Originally formed in 1999, the Roadrunners franchise operated under the
name of Broadwater Agency for its' inaugural season. The majority of the
players on that 99 team had played together in the area senior league for
a number of years. The first ever franchise win was a rain shortened
victory at Pine Island during CheeseFest. The 3 remaining
somewhat active RRers from that 99 squad are Swanee (Jeff Swanson),
Thor (Scott Thorvilson), and Remf (Bernie Carlson). The Roadrunners
moniker was adopted in 2000 and has stuck ever since. To date, over 60
different players have donned the Roadrunners uniform. Visit our alumni
page to see some of the names.
The Roadrunners have always played in the Twin Rivers league. The 1999 addition of the Roadrunners made it a modest 7 team league, with already existing members: Pine Island, Plainview, Kasson, Stewartville-Racine, Dodge Center, and Lake City. Over the years the league has grown, reaching a peak of 14 teams in 2005 and 2006. For 2011, the league has 9 teams. They are Plainview-Elgin-Millville, Stewartville-Racine, Pine Island, St. Charles, Kasson, Winona, Caledonia, Hayfield, and the Roadrunners.
